Looking at purchasing a cabin for summer and winter enjoyment. Everything near Stampede Pass riding is crazy expensive. Anyone know about the riding South of Cle Elum? Seems to be reasonably priced cabins there.

Seemed like the riding back there was around similar elevations to Gold Creek and Stampede, at least according to google earth.

This looks like the Woods & Steel area... buddy has a cabin over there. some good open meadows not real steep, but you can get to many different riding areas. We will head over to WJ for the weekend from there. Good luck on the cabin.

Mike,

I have a cabin over there. As others have said, it largely depends on the snow. For family riding especially it is hard to beat all up along the South Ridge. There are little pockets of fun stuff all around there. But... for the type of riding I suspect you want you will put on a good ~16 miles of road riding before you get to the good stuff (e.g past Gnat Flat). That's alot of road riding if you are doing it day in and day out.

That said, we love having a cabin up around there (we are in Sky Meadows). You can ride all the way to Whistlin' Jack right from your back door.

Regards,
Chris

Mike, we speak in quite tones when speaking of this area if spoken at all.

Good area for a cabin, easy enough to load at the cabin for a short drive if needed, price is right, go for it.
