He's referring to the stretch of road between Reed Point, MT which is around Mile marker 392 on I-90 and Livingston, MT mile marker 333 on I-90. It is a windy SOB......i had a sun roof eject out of a civic a while back due to crosswinds!

we have one we call windy gap 1/2 mile of white knuckles in the winter time.

I bet that was one hell of a wake up call!

2012 Eco Super Crew, 6.5' Box, 3.73s Max tow.

Two place open with sleds run's 6th gear all the time. very small drop in economy.
Two place open with salt shields and sleds north of 60 runs 6th gear. noticeable, but not that big of a deal.
20' foot box, 5 foot vee, Aluminuim 3 sleds, guys and gear. North of 70 runs 6th gear. Just wish it got more that 9.5 mpg. Yes I know dropping the speed would help, but I got places to be!

Me driving typically 80mph almost every where -- computer showing 17.4, hand calcs 16.5 when not towing.

I have a 2011 SCrew.

I pull a 27' enclosed that we put 5 sleds in.

The trailer has a load leveler/ sway control on the hitch.

I put on 10 ply LT325/60R18 Hankook Dynapros on to eliminate sway.

The truck is stock other than the Edge CT programmer.

Its nice to set the cruise control at 70 mph and have it stay in overdrive!....Unlike my old chevy with a 6.0. I liked that truck but it couldnt hold a candle to the E Boost.

Mine is a 13' FX4 SCREW with a 5'7" box. I tow a 4 place alums from MN to Wy a few times a winter and does awesome. I added timbren load carriers and bilstein 5100 shocks. I also went to BF At TKO 2 tires in 10 ply. All upgrades made huge difference. Power and transmission work awesome together. I also tow an 185 alumacraft trophy every weekend in the summer

Im looking at those same tires. Not too many factory sizes for the 20" rims...

And i installed this bag setup, hopefully it'll handle what i use em for.

I have a 3.5 eco in an 13' explorer. Pulls a two place enclosed really great!

I have pulled a 4 place open with it, but frankly I would not recommend it. The wheel base and hitch loading are a bad combo for that much weight.

Eco Boost towing

Longer wheel base is better for sway control along with LT tires or ten ply, I've had two Eco Boost powered trucks 2011&2014 towed from Upper Mi. To Cooke City Twice with 2011 12.8 mpg at 82 mph awesome trucks can't stand driving anything with less power now I'm hooked ?.

I still run a 7.3 powerstroke. It's getting time for a replacement. I basically just use truck for towing, 1-2 trips Mn to Wy pulling a 4 place open. In summer pull a 30ft 5th wheel camper. I love being able to run 75-80 mph across SD Wy. That being said another diesel is out of the question due to cost of new, and used ones seems to have a bunch emission issues. That's why I stick with old reliable 7.3. Are you able to pull a 4 place open that fast with an Eco boost. We pulled same trailer with a 05 5.4 f150 and it didn't work very good couldn't run 70 and it was down to 6-7 MPG.

With my 2013 ecoboost I pull a 7X29 enclosed trailer with four sleds and I don't have any problem pulling that fast it just depends on how much gas you want to use! I really believe my ecoboost has as much pulling power as my 02 powerstroke had!

So what do you get for fuel mileage pulling that fast. We get only 9-10.5 with the 7.3 but we get there faster. I can get 12-13 if we stay at 65-70. But we always put time above fuel cost.

I get around 8-10 with a 13' Eco depending on wind conditions pulling 72-75 mph with a 7x29 aluminum enclosed. Truck pulls as good as my 03' Dmax if not better and a ton better than the 8.1L Yukon I had prior.

Eco mileage

If I drive 75-80 I'm between 10-11mpg but if I keep it around 65-70 im around 12-12.5 if its not blowing like crazy. Really impressed with the power more than the mileage. I had an 8.1 chev and my eco will pull the same trailer much better and 4 mpg better!

Finally got to take it on the first trip. Pulled a 14' open with an extra height snocap. Two guys, 2 sleds and gear. After getting home my mpg averaged 8.9 overall. Ran 75-80mph and it just wanted to go faster! 2200-2500 rpm average in 5th gear, never noticed it go over 3,000. We fought a steady head wind the whole way out, had a couple hour detour between cheyenne and laramie, and fought a south wind heading back home.

Im glad i have the 36 gal tank, id be looking into installing one after one trip if i had the 24!

Amazed at how this little 3.5 acts. Literally felt like endless power, and although a small load the truck handled it great. Wind drag does kill the mpg though.

Pretty impressed/happy with it on this trip. just wishing i could pull an alum enclosed to see how it feels/compares!

i was thinking the same thing. i rode in the back seat of my uncle's ecoboost from ND to the WY big horns. pulling a 22' 4 place open trailer at 80 mph down the interstate, the dash was reading 6-7 mpg. i dont know how accurate the dash is, but thats what it said. 100% stock pickup, stock size tires, etc... it shifted more than i expected it to (after hearing reviews). the power was there though. cruise was set at 80 and we stayed at 80. we didnt drive past many gas stations!

What? Someone not telling the truth about mileage pulling. I'm shocked.
