Why getting rid of spot...

I used this SPOT for a snowmobile riding season and then also took it to Guatemala on a service project. In my case, the reception was spotty. When on track mode, only about 1 track in 5 would make it. Also, when sending an 'ok' message to my wife, she would only get it about 50% of the time.

So, two main reasons:

1. Spotty reception in the areas I ride, and

2. No way of knowing if the message got through.

I opted for a gps and a ham radio.

Now, I have to say, many others have had very different results than I have. Most reports I have read give it a huge thumbs up. But, my results were different.
