My buddy has a 2008 M1000 153" and it seems to trench no matter where we go. I was wondering what he could do to get it to stay on top of the snow. The limiter strap is all the way tight. Any info would be great.

Thanks,
Kory

Let the strap out and lighten the rear spring or let some air out of the rear shock, depending on what susp. he has.
Kory, I have that 900 running out pretty well now.

Thanks for the tips guys. Jim, I am glad to here the sled is running. Believe it or not I still miss it! How much air should be in the rear shock? He weighs about 240 lbs.

Thanks,
Kory

Maybe someone else will be able to tell you better on the air. I would think around 130 and then put a little more load on the front skid shock. He will have to play with it some, but it should be set to just keep from bottoming out except on the big ones. Too much pressure pushes the track down into the snow and does not allow it to pick back up again, hence the trench begines! He is just a little heavier than me and it is a pretty fine balance with a 153 on a sled as heavy as the 1000.

Actually someone told him to put a longer track on it. I just thought you could get these things to go through the snow better without more track.

Thanks,

The longer track will help a little but probably not enough to justify the $. Take the pump with you and play with it on the hill. Just make sure that the back of the sled is in the air so there is no load on the shock. That way you get a true reading. 130+ sounds pretty close.

I'd have to agree with the limiter. Loosen it all the way. Also, If you search the Geo mod on here that is a great no dollar mod IMO. Doing the geo mod allows you to run about 90 lbs in the shock vs 130+. Good luck.

To find the geo mod stay in the cat section and search, "need help getting transfer out of new 08 skids." That will take you to the thread with the geo mod. did it to my 08 1000 162 and am very pleased with the results. definately helped out alot with the trenching problem.

Can the Geo mod be done on any M series or just the newer 07/08 models?
