M7 Oil Questions

If a sled has been run on Arctic Cat APV oil its entire life is it hard on the engine if you switch oil? Like for price reasons if I burned amzoil or blue Marble is an M7 still going to perform?

I have been running torco since my m7 was brand new in 05. Did not have a supplier for the torco. I switched to ams oil at the beginning of last year, the minute that i put it in my sled i noticed a differance in performance for the better. I will run ams oil in all my sleds from now on. Same thing with a friend of mine. Has a polaris and was running the polaris gold, changed to ams oil and noticed a difference right away in performance. Ams oil is the s&it!!

It is a good idea to flush your tank and clean your power valves good that is where the biggest difference in oils will rest! Mixing oils is never good as the combustion properties are all different

run amzoil in it just when you get readyto switch run the res down to almost empty i have been using amzoil for 4 years and my sleds haver never missed a beat

Make sure you clean those power valves if you got 'em when changing oil.... burn deposits can kill performance

Another Amsoil user - Interceptor - No problems, performs great, doesn't stink, powervalves are clean, and the price is right.

It is a good idea to clean the powervalves before you switch, I found the Cat APV oil to make quite a mess of them.

mixing oils , is the least of your worries. Your NOT gonna ruin anything because you mixed, amsgum, klotz and blue marble in the same tank. Some of it is marketing, some of it has merit, but none of it will do your sled any harm. I personally run the Blue or the new AC blended oils, klotz is also very good. Amsoil is safe as well, but just has less hp and needs more cleaning. Your local brand of fuel will also effect an oils performance.

i beg to differ, you do not ever want to mix oils in your tank, if your going to switch over just run most of the oil out and then syphon the rest. if mix a full synthetic oil with a semi synthetic-mineral oil like say A/C apv oil with blue marble ( blue marble is great oil dont get me wrong but you dont want to mix) it can actually cause the particles to ball up and bind together, big enough to not go through your injectors, causing your sled to run lean therefore causting detonation.

I am glad somebody else responded to this.... Nail on the Head!

XXX2^

see this first hand with the "gel" that didn't pass the pump and 2 burn downs.

Is it pretty hard to clean the power valves? Should I use WD40 or somethin like that?

Nope just time consuming to do it right scraping and cleaning and scraping again... most neglected part on a sled. Priceless when done on a regular basis. Make sure to put a tick mark on your power valve housings so you get them put back in right

On the Cats they only go in one way.

Just buff with a hand grinder with a wire wheel on it-- Cleans them up n less than a minute on both sides...

Ya Mixin with anything over 1/2 tank could be BAD news oil...

So that might be the reason my old stock 600 mtn cat blew last winter with only 1600 miles on it. It was switched to ams after ac oil :(
