Best Women's Sled????

I am trying to figure out what would be the best sled to get my wife. I was looking at the Yamaha Phazer MTX, not looking for a super expensive sled but It needs to be a mountain sled. She has ridden an 08 Polaris RMK and had issues being able to be on one side and still reaching the throttle or brake any help would be appreciated.

What do you ride? I'm going to guess an 800, 150+" track.... do you want her to keep up? She won't on a Phazer.....

i would suggest a pro rmk with a 36 a arm kit.

or a xm, even the summit sport carb no has the flex edge and t motion in the rear. All i hear is the xm is great for beginners, needs little input to side hill and get around.

Well if your looking for a mountain sled the phazer is out. A nice M6 07 or newer would be a good sled, that way you have reverse. I'd add the 10 seat if you get a 07-09.

The Phazer is a great beginners, woman's or kid's sled. It is under powered but for a smaller person or beginner, you don't need as much power. If you chose to add boost, you'd eliminate that problem.

Really, any 600 mountain sled made in the last five years or so from any manufacturer would be a good choice.

If you have found a good deal on a Phazer, I wouldn't hesitate. At some point, she may become better than the sled and then it will be time to upgrade. Until then the Phazer will be adequate.

I would recommend a ski-doo. I've seen a lot of Nancys on them and they seem to do well on the trails. :D

If you want her to enjoy her rmk though just bend the bars in a little bit so she can reach them better.

i would think a M series sled or as DPG suggested a 600 RMK. Did the '08 RMK have tall bars maybe think about a shorter riser and bars. dont over look small changes that can make a sled you hate into a sled that fits like a glove and fun to ride.
I have just heard that the older Doo's are less forgiving and you either like them or you don't. the Phazer is underpowered and heavier and for a small person that can equal a lot of work and not so much fun

my wife's favorite sled (to date) was the 2006 Ski Doo Summit 800. She is short armed but figured out the sled... She rides an 09 Doo Hillclimb now...

I would not buy the Phazer as it is turd... I would recommend Cat' M-6 or Doo's EFI 600... the longer track versions.. Remember if momma is not happy NO ONE is happy....

I got my wife a phazer a couple of years ago and she hated it. I thought it was fun, but she certainly did not.

She now has an Arctic Cat ProClimb M800 Sno Pro 162, and she loves it.

I ride a 05 sx viper 144" and she is still learning so I am looking for something that she can handle and enjoy

Looks like you both need an update. Since you are on a 10 yr old sled is it safe to assume we need to be recommending something other than brand new $10k+ machines?

I think the best used machines are the M7 and M8 from '05-11. We had a ton of beginnners on these sleds yesterday, women, children, old men. Everybody had a good time, only one crash:face-icon-small-win

If you can afford new sleds, I am partial to the Polaris Pro. The SkiDoo is also a very good machine. I will echo how worthless something like Phazer is, I wouldn't do that. Buy a machine she can grow with, something that isn't going to limit her riding.

I'd start with new techniques: tip the sled into the hill and keep both hands on the grips where they belong.

For a very capable snowmochine that is very easy to ride get a Mountain Horse.

Really? The guy was asking about a sled not a MH.
To the OP, in keeping with your budget presuming its in the $3-5k range based on looking at used phazers, M6 153 would be my recommendation or a M7 if you can find a nice one that hasn't been thrashed. My wife loves her M7, to the point she'd rather ride it over my Pro.
The M7 also has almost 3k mi on it and has had very few issues. Many of those miles pulling a snowcoach off trail.

Ski-Doo XM 600 ETEC 154

I recommend the Ski-Doo XM 600 ETEC 154. Plenty of power and a long lasting motor that sips gas and oil. XM platform is easy to ride. The 154 will float well and she will be able to play in the powder h ease, and if she drops into a hole off of the trail you will have enough sled and track to ride it out for her.

Really. OP asked about a mountain sled for a rider that had trouble with an 08 RMK. A MH is easier to ride and goes everywhere an RMK will.

If you don't like riding a horse, don't. They aren't everyone's cup of tea, and that is ok.

My advise stands.

If she's anything like my wife she will never sidehill on one ski and will hate tippy sleds like the phazer.

What ever you get. Make sure it has good suspension
My wife hates riding on rough azz trails. She has a m7 with kmod suspension and loves it. I also put on the high rise seat from Arctic cat. Nice and plush.
