I been looking at the TekVest at my local sled shop,,, it's a 200.00 vest.

After finding the right fit,, i did some feel test to the armor pads and plastic type plates that are inside. I got the sales guy over and said i remember literally knocking like on a door to my buddies TekVest last winter,,, this one in the store is flexable and not hard.
I am looking into this for a front impact safty,,, and this vest felt like nothing more than a Moto-x chest protector sewed up w/ TekVest nylon.

I asked the guy,,, why should i buy this if i got a moto-x chest armor supported by foam,,,, the guy said this (Tekvest) is better....

So i am looking for feedback from anyone farmiliar w/ what im talking about. I'm straped on spending and have a Thor chest protector which has foam on the inside,, it has saved me many times crashin into tree's ,etc...

I prefer my Thor roost guard over a tek vest. The difference in mobility is very minor & the times my thor has saved me I can't even count!

My thoughts were the same. I am going to be rocking the Thor full sleave roost gaurd. I would like to try the Klim Teck Vest but I have a hard time justifying the price.

One thing to keep in with the Tekvest you have Laminate of UHMW armor inside. This is a good thing. They will flex but not puncture. Where the harder plastics will break or shatter.

I do where mine every time I ride. I have a Trail Pro model. The Freestyle is the best bang for the buck and my most popular model.

I do sell these ate 25% off.

????????????????? There are hardly any post's in this thread, so there are no limitations.

wow cant afford to read what vest to use, maybe spend 15 dollars and get the answers to the right one, oh ya if he buys it from gobigparts.com he would save enough on the purchase to pay for his year subscription. oh well maybe next time

After riding with a Tekvest I would not consider anything else. They are comfortable and protective.

My Tek-Vest has saved me from cracked ribs on numerous occasions! Worth every penny! Just because the Tek Vest is not made of a harder material doesn't mean it has less resistance to impact. In an impact, the rate of deceleration is what dictates how much energy is transferred throughout the body. Basically...If you can slow the rate of impact by even fractions of a second, it can mean the difference between getting the wind knocked out of you or serious injury. It's the same concept that auto manufacturers use when crash testing new vehicles.

Went to snow show in Novi. mi. got some time in looking at teckvests.. No way 250.00 for that.. I went to "Foam factory" by my house and hot glued in some additional dense foam pieces onto the undersided of my Thor Moto-x chest/ body armor,,, overall i think much more robust in impact senerio...
For example, i touched and felt a 250 buck vest,,, yes maybe a stud would not penetrate the menbrane,,, but im more worried about hitting a tree and getting caught behind the bars on my Fusion,, so chest hit.....
No way that thin teckvest, pad i can squish w/ my fingers is gonna be able to spread a load out like the full Thor moto-x armor could,,, AND that is concidering the additional 15.00 sheet of 1/4" dense foam i hot glued on backside.... Not to mention,, i think wearing it on the outside of my jacket looks quite Snowcross Wicked.

Foam Factory Junk eh"

Today i picked out the foam material for my "Custom Tekvest"...

I have tried on different brands,or models of TekVest. I just can't see how that flimsy front pad can cushin much blow to the chest. And for 250 bucks, the only thing that money is going for is the non-pierce material for no studs to penitrate if you get run over.

After being an X Moto-X racer, I have been in many bad accidents, and some front chest blows. No way a flimsy Tekvest gonna help..
Well i dug out one of my old Thor- chest protectors,, got my dense 1" foam for 5 bucks,,, Pieces bin... Very firm foam by the way,, but still plush.

See pic,,, this blows away any teck vest..

Added more that stock Thor on the rear spine area also...

If your a mountain rider,, g'head and get the Tekvest for the non-puncture properties, so if you get run over... But if for accident protection from impact,, Tekvest WAY to flimsy and thin...

I trail ride,, and 1/2 my rides are witha very fast group,, our problems are tree impacts, and on coming riders. So front crash is the only focus.

Nobody uses BWear? I love the hell out of mine, been over the bars a few times and had my sled land on me twice and I never really felt a thing any of those times. Plus I think its more comfortable than the tekvest.

That looks awesome. I was thinking of buying a new helmet but you have me thinking now. Im gonna just make my own and keep the big companys from screwing me over. An ice cream pail, some hot glue gun sticks, and a quick trip to the foam outlet could save me some serious cash.

I do...........Swear by it.

I actually wear mine while riding single track in the mountains too. I've had some pretty gnarly tree stabs that may have punctured my torso from front to back without my BWear. Not to mention how many bar hits I've taken on a sled.:face-icon-small-sho

My wife will be sporting a TekVest this season instead of her Rockgardn or Demon vest she's worn in the past.:face-icon-small-win

I love my BWEAR vest. I had a Tekvest and sold it. It was just too hot for me to wear and didn't fit all that great. The BWEAR seems to breathe better and fits my fat gut.LOL

Is BWEAR even in business anymore? I heard they are done. I picked mine up off of Ebay for $50. I think I got a good deal.LOL

Wear what you like and can afford. It's better to have some protection than none at all.

let kno how that hard plastic handles the cold weather. i believe this is the main reason y tekvests are preferred. if u want a harder tekvest look in to the SX model
