Q: How much track and stud can I get under my 2001 800 XCR? Looking to flat drag and need as much track and stud as I can fit. – x man

A: There is very limited room in that model in stock form. The largest track stud you can use is 1.250 in. You could possibly use a 1.325-in. stud, but you must keep the track banjo-tight. And remember, the heat exchanger is the tunnel protection, so you only have an inch. Most guys take out the bulkhead cooler to gain a little more room. Some of our racers are using a 1-in. or 0.75-in. lug wiper track with 1.200-in. push-through Chisels. – Larry Tiede, Woody’s Traction
