race engine fuel premix ratio

Amsnow
Q I just bought an asphalt sled with an 1108 HOOPER engine. The guy I bought it from was not sure on oil ratio. I am running 112 Sunoco fuel with AMSOIL premix. I mixed a batch of oil and gas at 32:1. While running it in the shop I get a lot of oil out of the pipes. I’m not even sure where jetting should be. I am at 4,600 ft elevation too. The guy I got it from did not know where it was run before he got it. I have tried calling HOOPER but no luck getting ahold of them. – Ray v

A Performance or racing engines that are pre-mix typically fall within the same mixing ratios. They range from 32:1 to 40:1 on most recommendations. The small difference between 32 and 40:1 is minuscule, but every racer and engine builder has their suggestion. Either way will work for your application. – Jason Houle, Straightline Performance
