Trails, trails and more trails. That’s what riding in Saskatchewan is all about. So is gliding over forested rolling hills in the crisp, clean winter air. There are dozens of small trail systems spread throughout central Saskatchewan, where most of the snowmobiling in the province takes place. Many of the trail systems are interconnected. There is trail riding in much of the province, including as far north as La Ronge as well as the far southeast corner near Estevan. And just about everywhere in between. Some of the trails are as small as a few kilometers while others are bigger and cover much more territory.
Grooming in Saskatchewan is done by local clubs, most of which are responsible for their own trail system. There are more than 80 snowmobile clubs in the province which groom 10,000 kilometres of trails, although not all clubs are grooming clubs. The Saskatchewan Snowmobile Association lists about 55 clubs with available trail maps on its website. A couple of the bigger system combinations are the Forest Fringe Trail Association and Porcupine Forest Snowmobile Association. |
