I rebuilt a 78 cat motor and ran it a couple miles before I parked it for a couple months this summer and most the coolent leaked through the top, head, and base gasket into and out of the motor.
on assembly I torqued bolts to general torque specs of 9mm or 3/8 bolt and nuts around 22-25 ft lbs.
so its apart and ready to go back togather and going to do some threebond 1211 on the base gasket but my question is what can I put on those crappy grafoil head gaskets with the metal center ring or maby just torque them a bit higher? I might try the 1211 on the ring?

I would try the 1211 and let it set dry for a little while before adding coolant. Then fire it up and see if it will hold pressure.
