The question has come up "does the Black Hills have avalanches?" Here is proof. I found this along trail 11 on Saturday. Probably buried a squirrel and a couple of mice. I have seen ones large enough to bury a sled.

Wonder what started it? Just a lot of the snow settling and getting real heavy on top of wet slimy dirt?
We started one down south one year in a small bowl that probably could have buried our sleds. Never had a camera on hand to take pictures but it caught us by surprise.
