I am wanting to take the duct work off of my hood and just run the piece in the nose. I am looking at just putting a K&N filter on with a prefilter around it. Just wondering what size filter you guys are using and how they work?

I thought about just buying some prefilter material and wrapping around the hole but have heard that some people still have snow get in and freeze up inside the intake.

Thanks

Get two small filters about the size of a fist. Or I guess a KN that has a flat top to it. It goes from round at the engine side of filter to a flat, like a flat head screwdriver, side on the air side of filter. Then make or buy some tight fitting prefilter. Install it then check it for ways for snow to get in and eliminate it. You will love getting rid of that heavy (8 F'en lbs) stock air system and you will notice the lack of weight immediately. You won't gain any HP tho. Get Lite.

you can see in this pic that I made a shield/cover out of the same .120 that does double duty of mounting the ecu. I put rubber washers between the ecu and cover when bolting it in. im not riding in deep snow just drags so I drilled a bunch of ~1" holes in the nose cone but I would guess frogskin material would work well for you.
