Just curious if anyone makes a belt drive for the sleds with chaincases? I would like to go belt drive but it looks to me like C3 is the only company who makes one for the models with chaincases? Is that right or does TKI or Kurts have belt drives that maybe aren't list on their sites? Don't wanna mess around with switching jackshafts or anything. Just wondering if I have any other options that mount straight to the backing of the old case and shafts.

Tki did make one and it was not on the website, not sure if it is still in production though.

It had limited ratios.

Edit: Checked my messages and Tom from TKI said the lowest you can go with a chaincase model was 2.25. The stock belt drive models can be had from 2.0-2.52 ratios.

I had looked into this retrofit option for my '11 awhile back but after many friends had problems with belt drives I decided to stick with my chain.

Ok heres another question, if I keep my chain and want to gear down, where do I get different sprockets?

Team sells sprockets for geardown. Most aftermarket companies can get team products or go to team aftermarket website.

Tom at TKI decide to stop making the belt drive that could fit inside the chain case as its gearing was limited and customer interest was low. Most guys would spend the extra $200 to get a QD back plate to get rid of the case and then use Tom's kit that normally replaces the QuickDrive.

Kurts sells a setup that will fit directly within your chain case. I have run the kit for 2 years now on the same belt. I actually ran 7psi of boost on it this past season without any belt problems. If you contact Curt personal at the Seeley Lake Montana store he can get you setup. Price difference wasn't much from the standard kit. Tell him Erik sent you. The photo aren't the best for detail but I was just trying to answer your question.

I must point out 2 key issues with belt drives that cause problems. First and for most is track tension. If the track was to ratchet at all the harsh vibrations and load shock will break a belt. The second most common cause is load shock from jumping or unloading the track and landing while under load with the throttle open. A chain case setup can hand much more abuse then any belt drive system out on the market today.

Hope this helps...

Do you know what ratio Kurt is running with that kit?

The kit that's currently on my sled is a 2.41 ratio. They also have a 2.36 ratio kit with a bigger top gear but I'm not sure it would fit within a chaincase.

The 2.41 ratio is a great choice and when clutched properly really shines. That probably explains why I've not had any belt failures.
