Freeing Up The Front

Ski-Doo Sway Bar Quick-Disconnect Link Kit

December 2023 Feature, Ski-Doo Steve Janes Web Exclusive

Twenty years ago mountain riders use to remove the sway bar from their snowmobiles to allow independent movement of the front suspension and to eliminate about 3-4 pounds of unnecessary weight.

However, manufactures started making the sway bar a little lighter and more flexible, improving both the independent movement and weight issues. Ski-Doo went a step farther by designing an accessory link that would allow you to free up the movement of the left and right side quickly and easily. This way when on the trails you could have full function of the sway bar. But once off the trail you could remove the link and have total independent movement of the suspension.

The install is quick and easy. You merely remove the solid composite link from one side of your sway bar (removing two nuts) and replace it with the Quick-Disconnect link. It takes about five minutes to install the kit. Once installed, it allows you to remove the link without the need of tools.

With the link removed, your front end doesn’t try to force the uphill ski down or the downhill ski up. It allows the front to easily roll into the slop and hold a sidehill.
