On Saturday, there was a little more manufacturer parity in the top five Pro finalists but not on top of the podium. Ski-Doo still swept the podium, led by Elias Ishoel with Renheim again in second and Tremblay in third. Polaris’ Kody Kamm would finish fourth and Arctic Cat racer Johan Lidman in fifth. Friday winner Lemieux would finish in No. 8.
While last year’s local favorite, Tucker Hibbert who transplanted to Minnesota from nearby Driggs, ID, was not racing this season, there was another local that fans could cheer for. Taven Woodie, a 15-year-old racer from just up the road in Alpine, WY, competed hard in the Pro AM Women class.
After a disappointing get-off while leading in Friday’s Pro Am Women final, Woodie was on task Saturday and easily won the Pro Am Women final that night on her Arctic Cat.
Woodie had two great rounds of qualifying (a first and a second) and held on to win her first race of the Amsoil Championship Snocross season..
Woodie finished ahead of Ski-Doo racer Megan Brodeur, who had three straight wins going into Saturday’s final, and third place finisher Malene Andersen, also competing on a Cat.
One other difference in this year’s race compared to last year’s was snow. There was definitely more snow at the race site this December than last year when race organizers had to make snow as well as truck some in from Teton Pass.
Just like last year, we took plenty of pictures and video during the two days of racing. Here are a few of our favorite photos—not necessarily all focusing on individual racers but the event as well.
