What's new for the '08 Snow Hawks

November 2007 Feature

Snow Hawk is alive and kicking, for those of you who keep up with the AD Boivin machines.

Model year 2008 brings a new lineup, with five models (counting the Jr. series). Full-scale Snow Hawks include the 800 H.O. Enduro, 800 H.O Trail and 800 H.O. Mountain.

The Snow Hawk 800 H.O. Mountain features the proven 800 H.O. Rotax twin found in mid-2000 Ski-Doo Summits. Rated at 140 hp, the twin utilizes a single tuned pipe and two Mikuni TM40 carbs complete with Holtzman ATACC. The primary clutch is a TRA III, while a HPV VSA 10 secondary transfers power to the 60mm dry cog belt.

The Snow Hawk Mountain floats on your choice of three track lengths: 144, 151 or 159, each 13 inches wide with 2.3-inch lugs.

The rear suspension is an Expert Xtreme ADB with dual KYB gas shocks and 16 inches of travel.

The front end rides on Paioli inverted forks with 12 inches of travel. A UHMW Twin Axis ski supports the Snow Hawk in various snow conditions.

While we have heard complaints about the Snow Hawk 800 H.O. Mountain's steep price tag ($12,749), the machine is the lightest in the industry, at a claimed 412-pound dry weight.
