Over time I would like to have an inclusive thread that we can use as a reference to finding fixes for problems, as well as a place to find information about modding the Nytro. There is a subsection for boost, so I'm going to limit this thread to all the non-boost mods and fixes out there.

So far that is all I've dug up from the 4 stroke forum on the Nytro, but I KNOW there is a lot of information out there that you guys have compiled since 2008.

This thread has been long overdue for an update, and I have finally got around to adding more links to helpful threads. As always any comments or feedback is welcome and appreciated.

Anyone that wants to submit a tech tip, or product review you can either post it up, or PM it to me and I'll add it to the list! If you post it up, I will probably add it to the first or second post (depending on if it is a tech tip or review) so dont freak out if your post dissapears, the information will still be here and I will make sure to give credit to whoever submits the info for us.

The same goes if anyone wants to do a write up on a mod or installation of aftermarket parts, we can all use the shared info.

Recommended Break in

Hey man, thanks for the thread, but here is one I would like to see added. For those of us just now moving into the 4 stroke world, I would like to see people's opinions and or factory recommendation (if it exists) on break in process. It seems like I have seen this before, so maybe it is just as simple as linking to the old thread.

Thanks

Sure thing, I will look around and see what I can find. There are traditionally two schools of thought here. One is follow factory procedure (idle for 5 minues, take it easy for 100 miles or so, vary throttle position) The other is quite the opposite...pretty much ride it HARD out of the box. The theory is that increased pressure in the engine will help the rings seat better.

When breaking in a motor there is really only 2 very important things to follow

1) make sure its to operating temp
2) Don't keep same RPM for long periods of time
1) MAKE SURE ITS TO OPERATING TEMP.

MTN VIPER'S ROLL OVER VALVE REVIEW

This little check valve should have been installed from the factory on these leaking nytros. Everyone knows the mess and hassle of tipping over the nytros and loosing oil into the air cleaner. Well Mtn Viper's roll over valve solves this problem completely and adds a few little extras at the same time such as a tether which another thing that yamaha should have put on stock. The Unit is very simple to install and is a well thought out piece. There is safety features for the safety features with this little valve and for some reason it does fail it comes with a bypass feature for it as well. I have been using this for a season now and its flawless.
