Why would you not have a Silber turbo axys?

So for anyone on the fence at this point... Not really sure why you wouldn't boost your axys... its just too dang fun.

Silber setup running 5psi at 9k feet in this vid. 2017 with 155 2.6 track. Got about 200 miles on so far this season and I can officially say this is the most fun sled I have ever had. Quick easy install and the thing just runs awesome all day until Im out of gas.

Now I just need to get back in shape so I stop getting lured into the bottom of the creeks.

Im running 8psi, pumpgas @ sealvl with stock compression. And i still want more...
5psi @ 9k feet must feel like a stocker over here

For those who keep being curious why im only running 5psi at elevation. For example the day this video was shot I burned over 12 gallons of gas riding trees like this. 5psi creates a nice hit of power over stock at this elevation but isn't a rodeo to hold onto and can easily be rode day in and day out. I started the day at 7 psi and it was fun but way more then We needed for the snow.

I love....scratch that....I hate it when you guys post stuff like this. I've always made it a point to never finance toys. So, although my current NA Pro is totally awesome, I feel my ability has reached a point that I'm ready for a turbo. So, I've been stuffing cash away since last spring and will be ready to snowcheck a turbo + Axys this coming spring. Posts like this get me so amped up.

As an older rider who has ridden with boost, I can honestly say if I were given a free turbo installed I would decline. I wouldn't say that if I were 20 years younger...quicker...stronger....less fear of injuries and etc.. For my style of riding, I am a MUCH better mountain rider without boost, I can ride in more control, hold my lines better and stay out of big trouble easier. A lot of guys with turbos are not skilled enough to properly ride one. Guys who are skilled enough can really make them work but definitely not for everyone. IMHO

What's your pumpgas octane rating and what are you running for clutching?

On my former pro with silber kit i couldnt run that high at all. But now i got a water-intercooler on my axys, and that kinda makes the whole deal to be honest.

We got another rating system over here(Sweden). But i think it equals to 93ish octane that you got over there. Maybe slightly better quality, but my guess its not far off eachother.


I could only imagine how much 5psi would be at those altitudes compared to over here. I guess its a whole different animal vs a stock @ 9k feet tho.

I'm a much more proficient rider now, but back when I was still learning I found the extra power to make riding a lot easier. I got stuck less, could easily keep up with guys who had over a decade of riding experience and overall had a much better time. Its all about how you use the flipper-thingy! They certainly aren't any harder to ride than a stock sled...

Anyway, point is, in the new era of low boost pull-n-go turbos, it really isn't just for the pro level riders out there.

Remember, at 10K, a turbo sled at 5psi is a lot closer to a stock sled is with no boost at sea level...

Depends on the type of terrain, boosted was a lot of fun when riding and climbing in a bit less technical terrain. We ride a lot in steep tight trees and terrain that is less forgiving when the turbo spools up. In that type of terrain I am much more precise and can navigate in control in areas I could not on a boosted pro. I went from a non boosted pro to a boosted pro, riding the same terrain that I regularly rode my non boosted sled through I struggled with the boosted sled. I'm now on an AXYS 163 2.6 piped, can and clutched, I know for certain I can ride this sled much better non boosted in the type of terrain I've described (I have ridden a well set up boosted AXYS).
The turbo fun factor is off the charts and I would have one for sure but as described above if the bulk of the terrain let me ride like I want to. I'm no where near as good in steep super technical terrain on a boosted sled and that is where we spend a lot of our time. Many areas we ride require this type of terrain to get to where we are going. So, for that reason, I don't have a turbo. BTW, I ride with guys on boosted sleds and on many occasions they have been stuck riding lines I have made on a non boosted sled. Get on a huge climb and I wish I was boosted, sometimes having to wait for a turbo to set a track over the top makes me want one even more but I'll sacrifice and take the sled I can ride the best in the most technical terrain! Dang it!!!Wish I could set the clock back to younger, quicker, stronger and most importantly larger Kahoona's?
