Wow that surprises me. I ride a '97 MMax 700 everything modded but the motor. I average 50 to 60 miles on half a tank. The Poo, Doo or Cat guys I ride with all have to head out do to gas long before I need to. I love my MMax can not justify the money for what little I gain on performance of a new one. Not to say I don't want a Nytro. But that is cause I want one not because I am laking performance form my MMax.

I rode a couple times this year with a 01 700 159" mod. Only stuff that was stock was the tub and the gas tank...if i remember right..

anyway, very very impressive! couldn't keep up with the two M1000s though ;) lol

I'm still riding one, but it's for sale in the swap meet. :face-icon-small-win

It has a Price 1000 based off an srx bottom end, it also has about 75-80 lbs. taken off from stock. Somebody need to buy it, I've owned since it was new and I'm ready to try something different.

I have one as a backup. I nailed a rock pile with the TRX-1 and rode the MM the last day of the trip. Man I still love that sled. I can definitely notice the 100 HP difference though.LOL

Great sleds, I still have 3 of them. a fairly stock 1997 MM700 that my youngest son rides, its pushing 4,900 miles right now. The only probelms over the years were a snapped started cord and a broken steering post.
Son number 2 has a 1997 MM700 (with Hartman's 750 kit) 159, BOSS seat, 3.5 bar riser and a few other goodies. this one has 3,700 miles with any issues at all.
I still have a 1997 MM700 with a UBR 944. The sled easily has 6,000 + miles and motor I'm guessing 1,500-2,000 miles.

Since I bought my first MM 700 in 1997 I have been towed out a total of three times, all with broken steering posts. All have been beefed up bigtime after they broke.
It may have something to do with my stature, 6' 8" so I added 8" - 10" of risers....LOL

Not to highjack the thread. But what do you think of the 750 kit from Hartman?????? Much gain from only 50cc's??

Stiil riding my mountain max Hartman 750, Every year i throw a little money in upgrades and this thing just flat out fricken rips. S.L.P. pipes, boost bottle, v-force reeds, air box mod, Hartman case and cylinder porting, Hartman 750 big bore, works shocks, Mt tamer suspension, ( just received, will let you know how it works this winter), Bar risers, power madd pivot, off set steering post, reed spacers, And a little clutch work. After owning a mountain max, i will definatley be buying another yamaha when the budget is ready.

Thanks

Wow. I never heard of anyone running the Hartman 750. I might have to look into that when mine is time for a rebuild.

Chedder Brawt any problems with your 750? Notice alot of gain fro the 700??

I still have four of them. An 01 700 piped 159, a 2000 Ported, piped 159, and two full on mods with all kinds of lightwieght goodies an 800 slp with a 162 extreme and the other a Price 950 with 162 extreme. When they build a stock sled that will beat the 950 I will buy it. Untill then I will continue to ride the the triple two stroke Yamahas. The Mountain Max is the greatest all around mountain sled ever built. IMO

M.M. 700, I did all my motor mods at once, big bore, boost bottle, Head mill, porting, and pipes, so its hard to say how much of a difference just the big bore made. But all these mods together..........SWEEEET! The kit is very dependable, Hartman inc has been great on getting me set up right the first time. I rode this whole season and never had to do anything except add gas and oil. All the motor work pipes etc, around $3000.00 new. There are some sweet modded mm on the swapmeet for around the same price, If i did it all again, i might buy a used one thats already done and still have a stocker for the wife. On the other hand its nice to have everything fresh and new. I should also mention that mine was a 600 and i had to buy 700 jugs, and then have them bored, so the jugs were about a 600.00 expense. Anyway im starting to ramble on.
