Which rear skid works best in IQR for Mtn conversion

I am trying to get feedback on what people have found to work the best for rear skids into the iqr. I am looking a couple of different companies and I would like feedback on what people have put in and what works the best. The two at the top of my list are the ez ryde and the mtn tamer with ice age rails. I am looking for something for doing some big jumps, drops, and still good at boondocking, also at weight savings with durability.

When you ask people what the best of anything is you are going to mostly get opinions as many people have not been on all of the different makes of whatever it is you are comparing.

I myself have only ridden Holz rear suspension and feel it is a very well built and designed suspension that meets your demands and since Mark builds products for racers where some of the other manufacturers don't have people that use their products for racing; his stuff has been tested and proven in some of the most demanding aspects.

Having an open mind, I am sure there are other products out there that are lighter and might even be better than Holz but I can't speak about those. My suggestion is to ask specific questions to compare the different products and also do some research online to get weights and other useful information. Try not to post random questions like "what is the best" because I don't think you will get any fair answers.

I have a 2005 IQR with a 155 skid/track. Works very well for me in all conditions. Ice age rails, and exit shocks with 9" billet wheels. I do a lot of everything but the majority of my ridding is drops, jumps, re-entries and other high impact stuff. from my experience and if you have the coin, go with the ez-ryde skid. It is the most durrable and best ridding skid for the type of riddidng that you do in my opinion. I myself this next year am going with a 146Assault skid with my Exit shocks and Assault track with screws. so if your wanting 155" Ice age rails then I may have some available later this summer...

155" rails for what skid... If it will fit my 144" Polaris give me a price!

Polaris skid design. Should fit. i still have the skid in my sled im just going to go with an assault skid and track and keep my shocks but the rest will be up for grabs including the 155 polaris track. shoot me an offer the track is in great shape and so are the rails.

i agree with hudini, its tough to give a true perspective on all suspensions unless you have the opportunity to test all avaliable models. I personally have not. In my last sled, (03 edge mod) i had a Holz skid with floats. It worked very well, no duability issues, but i have not been on a IQR with that skid. I currently have a EZ-Ryde under my IQR mod. I have had no issues with it and it seems to work VERY well. In my sled it gives me an excellent approach angle that helps it get on top of the snow quickly. It just flat out works. If i was to build another sled it would have an EZ-RYDE under it.

my $.02

I am leaning towards the timbersled with iceage rails, Im getting a pretty good deal from ice age for the complete setup with the fox x shock package with anodized rails, wheel kit, and axle, Just cant decide if I want to go 144 or 151.

You cant go wrong with the Timbersled skid.. I have them on both my sleds... SUPER adjustable and keeps you in control of the sled in some nasty stuff.

Dan Adams, Rob Hoff, Dan Davidoff, Dan Gardnier (lots of Dans lol)...Run the timbersled skids and They absolutely BEAT on their sleds.

my 2 cents on the track..

IMO, the best, most fun track on that sled for all around work is the Camoplast Extreme 150" x 2.5"... (not a type o)

Good luck... let us know how it works out in the end with some pix!!

If I end up getting the 151 skid will the 150 track work with it, and will the 2.5 lug fit without removing front cooler, it will be the end of summer before I get it finished, but I will post pics when completed. Thanks for the input, if you have any other info let me know. I already have the z broz front end and 600 converted 800 motor, team tied clutch, trail tank, and much more, it has been a work in progress for a few years, the rear skid should be the last, until I think of something else.

Ice age can make sure your rails are sized correctly for your application WITH the 150.. just ask... there is only a 1/2" differnece in the installed length.

PM Both Brad Wursten (1200psi) and Shannon (Winter) on the forums here...they will give the straight talk on clearance and driver size on this chassis for the 2.5" track.

I had a Holz in my last sled with the zero-pro shocks, and an EZ ryde in my IQR. Ez Ryde is hands down better. Gets up on the snow quicker than the Holz did and rides better all around, it also gets through BIG ruts on the hill better without standing up and slowing you down. Another snowester/hcs memeber (autolodge) has an IQR with a Holz skid in it, I hope to get together with him next winter to comapre the EZ and the holz.

The 2.5 will clear barely with 7 tooth 3.0 pitch drivers and the front cooler in place.

I run the 150 x 2.5 on my qifes IQR build, really a great all around track thats flickable but still has good flotation.

everything he said is 100% correct. Ez-ryde all the way!
