Was reading some old posts about the stock helixes having issues, so may replace mine before the season, what angle is working well on the alpha 154s? And anyone tried a speedwerx lightened helix?

I called Steve at MDS and got the full set up. Weights, spring and helix. My Alpha is a 165, don't know if it makes a difference on helix. I can't remember what angle it is. But I know its 2* from stock. I can look when I get home tonight. To simplify, I would just call Steve. I have used his clutching in the past and its been great. I haven't ridden my Alpha with his set up yet, but I have no doubt it will be great. And if its not what I want, I know I can call him and he will work to make it so it is what I want.

one thing to consider is what alt you run at we ride 5-9 most of the time and I think the s48 works fine but if you ride higher the 45 or 46 is the better choice. Also the primary spring I think is different this year over 19.

In our clutch kit we use our 56-46.48 partial progressive helix and our 190-260 dark green spring. The belt sits so high in the driven clutch that it's like having a granny gear taking off, which is why it likes the steeper starting angle. And then the 46 degree angle in the mid range and top end backshifts very quick in deep snow for much more instant power. The slightly stiffer driven spring helps that too. Helixes are only $99 and the spring is $20. Or get our whole clutch kit for $299 with the ProMag weight and new drive spring.
