Were to ride out of?

It has been many years since I have rode up in the hills. I usual go wheeling there. were would be a good place to ride out of by deadwood or leed?

I prefer Trailshead, pretty much deadcenter of everything.:beer;

We have started off from the motel in Deadwood, Recreational Springs, and Trailshead. As stated, Trailshead is nice cause you can go any direction from there and maybe not have to run the same trail twice.

With that said, next time we go out, we are considering staying in Spearfish and driving up to "big hill lot" and going from there. Mainly for something different.

If you are staying in the Deadwood- Lead area you can also go south on 85. When you start going up the grade to Terry Peak you will see a road to the left called Rochford Road. Just to the left on that road is the Golden Reward lot. It is right on a couple spurs of 5. One goes toward Dumont and the other north to Deadwood or south to Rec Springs. A nice place to drop off as long as there is decent snow.

if the temps are warm the trail leading out of big hill lot towards cement ridge will get bare spots.

be there done that, If conditions are good every where, rec springs or near lead would be ok, but if you plan to ride towards trailshead the ride back will make you want to quit sledding. 1 to 2 ft moguls 5 to 10 mph tops in some areas. If you want to unload at trailshead just get there by 8am. Buck horn is also a place to unload if trailshead is full.
