Voltage Regulator - Having hard time understanding!

Sorry guys. I am stuggling to understand what to do with regards to my Gen 2 VR's. I have a 2000 600 RMK with the single yellow wire. Bulb blown. Replaced one bulb and took the VR off my 2000 700 rmk. It worked fine. So that's it.

Now...What to replace it with? It seems everyone hates the single yellow wire units. The newer/replacement unit has two wires. Where the heck does the brown wire go? A lot of people say go with an arctic cat vr. WHICH ONE? I have only seen two wire units from Arctic Cat.

Someone explain to a moron (me) which one to buy and how to wire it up for dependability.

Arctic Cat does not have a single wire one so you will have to get a 2 wire one if you choose to buy theirs. Irregardless of which one you buy the extra wire (brown or black depending on make) just goes to chassis ground. The yellow goes to where the yellow goes now. Here is a picture from my old 2000 700 RMK VR. If I remember correctly, I just pluged in the new two wire unit with the yellow in the same spot as the original (pictured) and the brown lead connected under one of the bolts holding the VR. Worked fine.
