I have two M's, 2007 M1000 and 2010 M800
I have been wanting to build a turbo sled, I was leaning towards putting a Turbo on the M1000? I see a few Turbo kits out there.
I'm wondering what you guys think as the both machines are older, is the M1000 the right choice? Who's kit should I get? Looking for opinions

IMO i would do the m8 as i have had a Tm1k. the weight of the m1k is the deal killer. now that said if all you are doing is climbing long hills or chutes the m1 is the best as it produces a lot more power at a lot less boost.
the m1 motor will need more maintenance then the m8 and half the life span as the m8.

Im fully aware of M1000 weight!
The M1000 just sits, as the only reason I thought of it.

Who's Turbo kit would you chose? For the M800

how much boost do you want to run.
you might find some used twisted kits or boondockers around. the one on my tm1 was a cpc rg kit. at 10.5 lbs it would swing 94g in a 3 post primary never had the nuts to turn it up to 12.

Both motors are very durable for boost. It is the clutching and diamond drive that require more maintenance under boost.

If you want big power, boost the M1000. But you will need to run a race gas mix to full race gas depending on how much boost. No detonation control on that sled and stock it detonated easily if you didn't watch things. Plan on going through primary clutching faster with the M1000 turbo. But they are a beast with boost. Oh, and they have more run ability challenges (deep powder, etc.).

M8 you can find pump gas kits everywhere and they run well on those kits. But it won't be anywhere close to the m1000 with boost for power. You will get more longevity with clutching (way more) and be able to run standard gas. So, this option is less money and more reliable. And it runs all day everyday.

Depends what you want to do...but probably not a great idea to boost an older M1000...brand new m1000s were prone to breaking under boost due to the big power.

Picked up a OVS Race Gas for the M800
Has about 300 miles on it, looks brand new great deal!

Nice! Now make sure the diamond drive bearing is converted to double row (assure correct clearance) and enjoy.

Will Do! I actually have to change the gearing as the Diamond Drive is out of Xfire. What gearing for a Mseries?

I’d try it with the higher gearing since you already have it. Some guys liked the higher gearing, loads the turbo more, more track speed. I personally like lower gearing in the mountains, but if I had the higher gears I woulda at least tried em.
