Last spring ride of the season and sled was running great. Just pulled out of a long climb to the top of a ridge and it wouldn't idle lower than around 4000 rpm. Messed with choke and cables and still @ about 4000. Turned down idle screw but really didn't help much. Decided to head back to rig. Sled still pulled with lots of power on the way back. Continued to idle high and then started to sound like it was missing or ding ding ding kinda sound. Like when the DESS key is not connected right. Got back to the truck and shut it down.
My first thought was reeds, cracked boot or air leak. However why the missing or dinging? anyone have any ideas where to start. 2001 skidoo summit 800 thanks

I wolud say if you rode it far with an air leak pull the head and inspect pistons cyclenders and so on . But if it still runs you can take a can of carb cleaner or brake cleen with it running spray the pto seal if it bogs you found it outher wise check

Check your carb boots for leaks. HIgh idle means it is lean, the boots are the first thing to check, after that check all the screws on the carb, spray either around your crank, behind the clutch, to check for a crank seal leaking. These are the most common things.
