Been a long summer, gathering parts for a new upgrade. This build is far from done and ill be busy between now and winter but hopefully this will get some people motivated to get ready for when the snow flies!

I built my prox 1200 back in 09, which to date has been my best sled ive ever owned! PERIOD!! Probably north of 4000 miles without so much as changing a spark plug! Only cracking out the bulkhead a couple times (from all the power/torque). The chassis was great in its day (and will still beat just about anything current on the snow now) but the prox is tired and fairly wore out.

I will go through the motor and get it freshened up (preventative maintenance) indy specialty clutch work, etc.

chassis wise starting with a 2011 pro 155, that is in immaculate shape that was bought from a fellow snowester! other than a little polishing and cleaning its ready for its transformation.

Just gonna swap the 1200 into a newer more current chassis.

MTNTK 5' u cooler... Ive built enough coolers to know that for $300 I couldnt replicate what they could build, the stainless brackets, hoses, clamps was a no brainer! should be plenty off cooling for 230 hp.

this is about all I have currently will be working on this in the weeks/months to come.

Pipes for this chassis/motor combo is a big challenge. Ive fit pipes before but nothing anywhere near this tight so well see how that goes.

Planning on making a custom mesh style hood slightly raised for pipe clearance.

ill post more when I make progress.

built a triple 40mm rack carb setup, and another pic of the motor plate out of the chassis.

does anyone know of or have a posted weight of what a pro actually weighs boosted with the stock 800 cfi? Ive gotten plenty of people asking why would I do this kind of a build??

#1 answer is TORQUE! west coast heavy snow you need a lot of torque to power through the "sierra cement" we have out west. Once you have squeezed the throttle on a 230 hp triple you will soon realize that the 230 hp turbo twin you were told you have falls short on the HP and especially the torque and throttle response department.

The average pump gas boosted 800 is lucky to actually see anything north of 180 HP PERIOD! if its pump gas and at altitude then sorry your 800 twin will make 170-180 tops.

I dont ride super high elevations but normally see 5-7K feet. So my NA 1200 watercraft is in the ballpark of 190-195 hp at that altitude, and I have never seen a good running turbo 800 twin run with any of my triples in a dead stop drag race... Not even close. On the hill I know im giving up a lot to the mtn chassis that I have been trying to beat with either my prox or my mtn cat. I think weight wise its very close while on the hanging scale.

Im already planing my next chassis build with my 1500 and thats more in the 260-270hp range... No boosted 800cc turbo twin gonna make that kind of HP.

pulled the factory CFI harness apart, going to take out everything I dont need but still utilize all the factory plugs and things that I need for this build with a carbed motor. Itll have the factory rockers by the tank, running the handwarmers, hi and low beams, tail/brake light, etc. My goal is to make it as factory looking and functioning as possible being plug and play. I have only started so theres a ways to go still. Trying to make it as clean as possible. This will probably eliminate 75% of the harness.

Its harvest time here for me so ive been busy but the engine plate is at the machine shop (along with some flywheels for some more big triple builds) so there wont be to many updates in here for a bit. As soon as I make some headway ill post the updates.

Clutch should be almost done at indy specialty.
pipes will be ordered as well.

Change out that Polaris track too. I stupidly put that style on my 1200 and it just does burn outs. Doesn't hook anything
The harness on those is way over built your right. I eliminated a large pile of wire on my tpro build. There is a really nice wire schematic in the maintainence manual

Is Brad still making engine plates? I need one for a twin in an edge chassis.

awesome, love the triples! I thought the main beni of a turbo was no loss at altitude tho, just crank the boost a hair more..
regardless, sweet build, ill be anxiously waiting for vid on the snow! needs at least a good stiff 2.5 challenger track!

Thats what I thought but he corrected me on a facebook post (Brad of PAR). I'd say contact Curt at Fastrax.

@matti can scale my 2012 pro open mod sometime soon and report back. Love the build. What's your strategy on the pipes?

Crankshop stampings, that I will fit myself.

Id love to have Neil at NPP do em up for me but 2000 miles between him and I kinda doesnt work! Ive tried to advertise up in his neck of the woods if someone had a pro chassis to "borrow" and I was going to send Neil a motor plate, WC cases and some cylinders to mock up enough to build some pipes but apparently Alberta is the one place where pros dont blow up because surprisingly nobody hit my up for my offer.

Neil got all excited about doing this project but we just couldnt connect all the dots. Even with all the pipe mfg's here in california (FMF, Factory pipe, and a handful of others) none of them do custom fit work.

myself and my union sheet metal worker buddy of 30 years did my prox pipes. I am a little nervous about doing these with the lack of room and technicality compared to an edge/prox chassis but im up for the challenge.

Dude is literally an artist for building custom exhausts!

not much to post yet, been busy.

Indy specialty clutches are back
new 65 LPH fuel pump
zbros springs all the way around.

I figured for the price of all 4 springs (heavy rates for the bigger engine) it would be hard to beat dollar for dollar. dual rates for the fronts.

Been doing a lot of research lately and havent been doing much building on the sled other than installing some tunnel reinforcement plates from fastrax, and a new 64 series digitron gauge.

I pulled my old 1200 out of the prox and found an awesome home for the chassis as it will have a 1350 UBR WC triple and become a tar/asphalt sled and will be restored back to new and perfect condition.

Ive been doing some back and forth with crankshop, im sending them a motor plate to mock up pipes in a pro rmk we sourced at their shop so they can fit pipes.

I am seeing how much interest this could generate to build more plates and if crankshop can build fitted pipes for this application on a more regular basis for more people.

I will be shipping them a plate after thanksgiving and they told me 2 weeks out on building the pipes. I was going to fit them myself but Im trying to figure out if theres any interest for more people into building a big triple pro. If this winter the 1200 works out then ill do another with my 1500 cat in one come next season. I also have a buddy who we will be putting his cat 1000 twin big bore into one as well.
