1000 GXSR conversion
Tedesweden, I know this is not your first rodeo as I have watched your builds and some video, you do nice work and good ideas. Are you planning on keeping the stock 1000 GXSR frame as you did on the 750? My experience is when you get into this horsepower range the frames of the litre bikes do not work well for my type of riding (rocky mtns 9000+ Lots of hill climbing) with track kits on they trench too much (track spin) and 129" is too short, you simply cannot hook up (get traction) with that much HP, mine is 200+ at the crank. If you add a longer skid and more track you do not totally solve the problem, it's then just a longer one.
1. The distance between the back of the ski and the front of the track must be shortened.
2. The rider should be positioned as close as possible to the middle of the track.
3. The balance of weight, length, rider position, track angle, gearing, fork angle, ski position are all critical.
This is where motorcycles in general fall short as snow bikes.
This is the reason I had to go to a custom frame. Engine position is key, did I mention engine position?
Do I dare state it? The Adboivin snowhawks did have a lot of geometry correct.
Allen from Timbersled made some comments on number 2. topic on another thread as he and others have gone down this long dark rabbit hole before.
Good luck on your build keep us posted.
