supercharged phazer vs turbo phazer

looking to get a phazer mountain. i am going to boost it if i can find a sled for the right $. is it true that this sled would make 140 hp at 10,000ft with 11psi boost from a supercharger. what about a turbo? i weigh 145lbs with out riding gear. would this be a good setup or would i be better off getting a 7 or 800 rmk? what would a 700 rmk have for hp at 10,000ft?

Maybe not quite 140 @ 10000 but close. With a supercharger you'd have to run better fuel. The turbo would make the same hp with less octane. I think a turboed Phazer would be alot of fun. A stock 700 at the same altitude would make about 90 hp (130 -(3% x 10)) A normally aspirated motor looses roughly 3% hp per 1000 ft.

thanks up-high. how much boost could i run with pump gas? how much with a 50/50 blend, and straight race?

Theres no simple answer. Depends on what octane you use, what elevation, whether the motor has a head shim, how long you can go without hitting the throttle at lower elevations, etc.

In regards to the MCX turbo kit and depending on your riding style, the head shim may be a bad idea at that elevation. We have taken some of the shims out that we originally installed as it hurt the bottom end. We run 10-11 psi on pump gas with no shim at that elevation.

pwdrnut, what kind of hp are you getting with that setup? i like to boondock and hill climb. i also live in iowa and would ride the sled here. would i have to run race fuel at pretty much sea level?

iam doing mcx epress kit so just waiting of it to show up were u at in iowa u lacated i am from lemars

near tama. what made you decide to run with that kit v.s. a supercharger? how much boost will you be running and what kinda fuel for around here? you ride the mountains?

i want with the turbo dew to fact they are easyer to tune the super charger i heard not for sure on this going to run 91 pump gas for the mountains for here not sure yet need to get installed first and go from there this is my first turbo kit and hope it works good

We ran turbo<mcx> Phazer last year and it was great, felt same as piped 800, with head shim its a little squishy on the bottom end but 91 octane is worth it. Use the throttle differently and its fine. 14 lbs 10,000 ft ran way better than 800 at 9500 feet.

at what elevation would the turbo start beating a rev 800 with head and pipe? the reason for asking is i ride with friends that have rev 800s, one has a m1000. i want to beable to climb a little higher if you know what i mean

Remember , you don't have a 15 or 16" wide track so beating your buds in the powder may be an issue. My buddy has a turbo Phazer and when I race him with my Summit 8000 at 2200 ft I can get him out of the gate but if we roll on at 30 mph he is gone at 12 lbs. At the BIS he ran against 700 and 800 2 strokes in various states of tune and spanked them at 15 lbs at 5500 ft with 100 ll av gas and a head shim.

the best way to get rid of the bog is to run a large airfilter that is not under the seat as well as a higher engament and to modify the mcx ehaust so it dumps straight out the back of the exhaust this will take care of almost all of the lag. Mine ran great this way but be careful with the boost the blocks on these motors are the weakest link, and they dont last long if pushed past 18 pds of boost for any amount of time.

so whats the most boost a guy could run with a turbo, no head shim, on pump gas? how bout with 50/50 and head shim? what kind of hp? this would be for 8000 to 10000 ft btw.

10 lbs pump, 12 to 13 with a 50/50 mix and close to 150 hp this would be at 9000 are above. the sled will have good power and out perform 800 no problem the track well be your problem if theres any amount of snow, 153 track would be a better choice. And as you now the suspensions suck on these sleds.
