I see she is proposing in her run for President; if a person has 50k of student loan debt, this will be eliminated and she wants college to be free. This will be paid for by taxing those making more than 50 mil (or is it 75 mil) an added 2%.

Is she proposing this solely to get the votes of the younger generation? Or does she really think the super rich should pay for people's college?

Really sad the direction America is starting to go and views like this aren't shunned.

Its sad to see the direction that both sides of the isle are taking us.

.

Why do you say that?
Is it sad all the prosperity we're experiencing?
Is it sad that we're getting along with foreign countries?
Just what do you mean by your remark?

It's a lazy Sunday I am feeling stupid enough to get in this meat grinder. IMO Trump is doing a great job, except for one thing. He is a very polarizing figure. I think the left wing crazies are mostly to blame, but Trump only pours gas on the fire. EVERYTHING he has done is spot on.

College costs way to much. The burden of student loans is the worst for those who get a useless degree of drop out before they graduate. Neither of those things should be the taxpayers problem. I have a new plan for education. It's called capitalism, you may have heard of it. Pay a fair price for what you get, then get what you pay for.
We work hard to send out kids to college so some liberal, never had a real job, taxpayer funded idiot can teach them how to think.

Rant over.

This college tuition thing always glosses over one very important point. There is NO reason for taxpayers to foot the bill for college other than to control what is being taught. All colleges take donations form alumni. Most colleges have MASSIVE amounts of these endowments squirreled away. The ivy league schools could be completely self funding, FREE college for all, for the next 50 years on current endowment funds. The wealthy have ALREADY funded the colleges, no need to steal from them to get more. We just need to free up the funds being held by these institutions, problem solved... Well except for the part about greed, corruption and control, we will still have those problems in govt.

Or make student loans like any other sort of loan. Lenders don't make 100k loans to teenagers with no jobs. They just don't. Its not a thing. In comes the federal gov't. Now kicks out loans to damn near anyone who applies for any sort of education. This ease of funding coupled with the misguided opinion that everyone needs a college education has led to millions of people into irrecoverable debt. People then borrow to go to school as its so normalized, they get a degree that may or may not have any logical payout. Now they try to start life again with still no real marketable skills and 50K+ in debt. Its not surprising that its not working out for everyone.

My biggest qualm is not even with those who are getting into debt. It is with a system designed to screw them. This is no different then the housing crash in '08. Predatory lending is all it is. Just like the housing market, in general, education is a good thing, just like buying a house. But when your lured into a scenario that is super risky and unlikely to payout what your investing. Its totally ****ed.

Colleges are just reaping the rewards of a group of people with virtualy unlimited buying power. Because the students have access to virtually unlimited funds, demand for education keeps growing and hence, prices rise. But because the funding doesn't dry up and level things out. I just keeps sending costs into out space.

I see it like this. Kid, 18 years old, goes and applies for a buisness loan to start a small service company. Say lawncare, needs a truck, trailer, mower, weedeater etc. 20k will get him going and start to payoff quickly. This loan would be rather hard to get as no credit history along with minimal income. But this same student walks in and gets student loan for 50k, 4-5 years before they plan on even having an income and they are approved instantly. This doesn't make sense, and shouldn't happen.

The whole public education system is completely ****ed. Massive corruption in administration, athletics, and the book industry, not to mention almost all of the teachers and professors are lefties that push their agenda on kids. Can anyone give me one good reason to push "common core" math through schools? The teaching of mathematics was completely fine before this **** show was pushed through.

It's refreshing to see when others get it. Especially when it's someone that most often times disagrees with me.

So typical for the left to create a problem where there was none and then come up with a solution to the problem by forcibly transferring wealth from one group to another.

I was that kid... ditched college, took out a loan and started a lawn care business. I did have to get my parents to co-sign on that note though. I never took student loans because I didn't want all that debt. I watched my younger sister rack up over 100k in loans. Years later she is still paying those loans back. Hard work paid off and she can but jeez what a burden...

Just more manipulation of the people by the government...

My biggest issues going forward are these.

1. This needs to stop, this unlimited source of funding needs to be curtailed or its going to continue to make the problem infinitely worse.

2. We need to create a reasonable support system for those in the current system. While I am a very big proponent of the tough luck mentality things like this can easily cause major dips in the economy. Probably not as bad as 08. BUT, it definitely isn't good when hundreds of thousands of people default on loans in rapid succession.

3. People need to seriously asses their financial well being. America as a whole, left right, center, everyone are living beyond their means every day, this extends beyond education, housing etc. I was shopping online for ties the other day, the company had financing available on their website. The most expensive item in the store was under $50. THIS IS A PROBLEM, how do you need to finance things like this. We as a country have decided that spending money and dealing with the outcome later is how we are going to operate. This will be the end of us. America can't live like this forever. Our gov't has continued to operate like this for years now.

It's going to ride until interest creeps back up north of 10 points.
Then the sky may indeed fall.

Until people wake up and realize that the mainstream media is just a propaganda tool for the DNC we will continue to see liberal idiots elected.
