Anyone know of any resources for the shock lengths (compressed and extended c-to-c) for the latest snowmobiles?

Thanks

Is this something people are interested in? I for one would be very interested in a detailed list of shocks used in snowmobiles... Maybe we could all work together and create a list?

What are your thoughts snowest?

GenII Polaris stock shocks are 15.5" center to center uncompressed.

I think that this would be a great idea...I can't tell you over the years how many people have asked questions about what shock length is right for their chassis or if something is interchangeable?

Can these shocks from XX brand work on chassis of YY brand?

Let's talk about this. Perf/Mod might be a good place.
Since we won't have swap meet "threads" anymore we can't make a sticky in the shocks category to put up there so people could see...too bad. A shock length match-up thread would have been great to have as a sticky in the shock forum in Swap.

What can we do?

Looks like SnowKnight is working on something to put in the Swap Meet...but I don't think it's a bad thing to keep over here in Perf/Mod either.

Can of worms

ruffryder, there are so many variables here to try and make a list for different sleds. I have done this on plenty of sleds but you really have to work all the issues on bump stop, steering and other suspension travel issues.
Best to handle this sled by sled. It is not just a C-to-C change.
You can put better shocks in with the right setup.

That is true, there is more to it, but I would think that comparing the center to center lengths extended and compressed would be the first way to start. You can modify shocks by making them longer or shorter by just changing the shock shaft length (to an extent), but it becomes cost prohibitive trying to change out the shock body (making the collapsed length shorter).

So, if you have done this before, give me some lengths... :beer;

I have a question for all you in this shock idea I am in the process of buying some m8 shocks and putting on my old powder special. Right now I have installed a bracket (lift kit) that actually raised my frontend, from the bottom of my spindle to the old stock shock mount it is 16 3/4.
What is my cosequences for doing this ? All help will be helpful thanx :D

Walker Air: 18; 11.75; 6.25 PN#7043404
Walker Air:17.02; 11.27; 5.75 PN#7043490

Rear-Front
Ryde FX:12.12; 8.61; 3.52
Walkers: 11.55; 8.17; 5.38 PN#7043411
Waklers:12.34; 8.84; 3.50 PN#7043449
Walker Air:12.49; 8.92; 3.57 PN#7043388
