Im having problems with my tach and headlights. The wiring looks ok so i was wondering if maybe the MPEM was the source of the problem. The problem is my headlights and tach don't turn on when i start the engine. Any help would be appreciated!

Did you check the connections? I dont think it would be the MPEM, but you could always pop off the connection and see if any pins are bent. It is probably just a loose connection or a problem with the voltage regulator maybe

I can't find it on my new sled. The sled is a 05 ski doo summit 800

I thinks peeps has it. On my 07 the relay sits just inside the left cover and hanging above the airbox. I had the same problem couple years ago I would unplug it bring it inside over night and the sled would have no symptoms. leave it out all night and no tack or lights in the morning. I would say that you most likely have the same problem.

so is there any way to tell whether this is the problem without spending the coin to replace it?

Had the same issue on my '06 summit.
The relay is about $5 at NAPA or Canadian Tire.
Sometimes a rap on the relay will smarten it up for a short while.
