Silicone spray on clutches

I am being pulled in both directions by different people, so someone give me the answer. Is there any problem with spraying silicone spray on your clutches after cleaning them to keep them operating as efficiently as possible?
 
Clutches are meant to be run dry.. never ever use silicone spray on them.. the silicone once out of the can is uncontrollable. It will eventually miagrate to the sheeves.. and they will slip..

At major automakers.. they will not even let silicone of any kind in the paint building.. Just because you can't control it.
 
Belts absolutely should NOT have any sort of lube or coating applied. They must run dry on clean and dry clutch sheeves as well.
 
I spray mine with silicone for summer storage (sprayed onto a rag and wiped on) then remove in the fall with brakekleen. So far so good, but I'm starting to think I'll quit doing it. What else would work good for summer storage to avoid pitting the sheaves due to moisture?
 
I started this season using the dupont/teflon spray.
However stopped after seeing how the dust does collect alot faster and thicker
on stuff.It does work great for about one ride then things get sticky.
Me thinks for grass drag type of a deal it would be great.
For me break cleaner and air on the moving stuff and scotch brite on the sheeves.
 
I take my air compressor and blow out the clutch every couple of rides. Wear breath guard it's nasty stuff.
 
I do disagree with the "spraying" of lubricant on clutches, however, well placed lubricant goes a long way for efficiency and longevity. After disassembly and cleaning, I spray a little bit of tri-flow on my finger tip and wipe it on to the bushing surfaces. Tri-Flow is a "dry" teflon based lubricant, prolly same results with graphite. I do this and then clean my hands before reassembly. Both in the primary and secondary. Now, there is little dust accumulation in these areas as centrifugal force helps keep the dust away. I do disassemble and clean my clutches every 500-700 miles though.

WOW, if your refering to the moving parts, I like triflow........as little as possible then clean the faces of the clutch and belt sides with hydrogen perxoide........just my .02
