Great work! I’m looking at doing this to mine. What did you use to cut and shape the tunnel and the crossover piece?

i use a cordless (wood cutting blade) skilsaw.

Remove paint with a scotch brite disc on a grinder.

i did much easier to weld and cut 45 miter cuts.

nice. I like how you did this. do you have pics of the sides of the tunnel? Because you would have had to of welded that also? As in where the back 1” ish of the tunnel side that you cut off would have to be mated to the remainder of the tunnel

I was talking about the way epspenziv did it which is the same way the factory did it , much neater looking and stronger, just takes longer to do but worth it.

FWIW xpspensiv had fastrax Motorsports do the work.

Either way the tunnel sides are the same.

hanging out in a tree well at the top.
There is a small part on top where the paint gets burned. It is very time consuming getting in-between the cooler and the tunnel cleaning it up. We took the cooler completely off the tunnel tin then riveted back together after welding and pressure testing it. Since the sled had coolant and grime from 2 seasons, cleaning was key to a nice clean and sanitary finished job. No plastic parts, rubber hose and clamps to leak here.

So 6 inch ... is there a noticeable difference? I understand visually there is a difference what about riding? What held you to 6 inches? vs say a foot?

I love the way you cut it off and then patched back in, looks good. Not sure why but I expected the coolant line to be more then just a simple box tube around.

Thanks

I haven't got to ride it yet. 6" makes it 2" shorter than a 163 tunnel. The bumper has hung me up numerous times. Didn't want to go to drastic.
