Anybody actually see/install a Selkirk setup yet? Reviews? Currently running a Revvup, P3 shield and nice modified skid plate but could use something that seals up a little tighter for the super deep days.

the REV up are really nice and clean . I have installed 4 sets

I have the Revv Up, and it is very very nice. Def the best snow shielding option I have found so far, and I have tried a few (SXS, home brew X2, Drifters.) I paid for my Revv-up BTW... SXS snow shed worked well on my YZ450F where the pipe wrapped the head, but made zero difference on KTM/Beta bikes (tested two Beta 500RRS Yeti bikes side by side with trail tech temp guages.) The Revv blanket on my Beta, even with stock thermostat kept temps up and oil was 100% clean after a good hard bar deep ride. The Selkirk unit looks very nice, but I haven't seen any progress from them other than a prototype.

I rode my ktm 450sx with the complete Selkirk SMX kit all last year. By complete, I mean with the built-in heat exchanger at the skid plate and with the Thermo-Bob and heated handlebars, air intake, and of course the shroud which totally encloses the engine, and provides a warm area for the air intake so snow doesnt clog the filter. I had warm hands, steady engine temps around 170 degrees in almost all conditions. Pretty much an OEM looking setup. Many of the Priest Lake riders have gone this direction. Very pleased.

Glad to hear this. I have a kit on order for my Husky 500

With a huge weight penalty, The system is extremely heavy.

I’m no expert but I’d wager the weight in snow that gathers around the motor without a system like Selkirk weighs as much or more than the Selkirk system which keeps the engine bay dry and free of snow.

Well put Zad. I'd rather keep my motor from turning into a block of ice and the Selkirk kit is the first of it's kind to actually look like it belongs on a bike. All the blankets and XL skid plates just look like band aids. No matter what bike/kit combo you ride, it will never have the power to weight ratio of a sled anyway. Just my .02

I did not weigh the components of the Selkirk SMX system, but they are very light. I imagine the whole thing is less than 3 pounds. A very small weight penalty to achieve steady engine temps, warm hands, and increased engine life. Also you don't need a heat shield on the exhaust which saves a little.
Heck, my tool kit and overnight kit weigh at least 10 pounds.

I just picked up my Selkirk system today, I’ll weigh it in the morning and post back. If I were to guess I’d say 8-10 lbs., the skid plate and heat exchanger are beefy, the rest is pretty light.

12.2 lbs for the armor and thermobob alone, not including heated bars.

YEP,
12.2 lbs for the armor and thermobob alone, not including heated bars.
Yes that is accurate"

In my original estimation I did not count allow for the thermobob, because we run those regardless. And without the Selkirk system, I would run a skidplate, and exhaust heatshield, and some form of home-made engine covering in an attempt to keep the snow off the engine. So the net weight gain the way I have setup bikes in the past would be less than the 12 pounds of the Selkirk system because it eliminates the need for some things. Just to clarify.

I ordered one a few weeks ago... it replaces a skid plate, tunnel cooler, radiator guards
... I think it's a sweet set up... I always collect a ton of ice under the skidplates.
