I’m in the process of setting up my YZ450F with the Selkirk kit, I’m going to use the C3 Stat and Bars. I’m looking for the best plumbing option. Thoughts and or ideas would be appreciated.

Standard C3 setup

Option A - C3 Stat - Selkirk Exchanger - Bars - Engine

Option B - C3 Stat - Bars - Selkirk Exchanger- Engine

Option C - C3 Stat to a Y - one leg runs the bars and one leg goes to heat exchanger- both return into the engine return line

Imo, option c is best as it allows the bars to be completely off and still have flow to eliminate pump deadheading but a bit more plumbing. Option b next as I would want the hot coolant in the bars before a heat exchanger that could reduce temps considerably.

I did option C. The only difference is that I didn't put shutoff on the heat exchanger loop.

The only issue I had is that I had to make sure I pinched off each loop and then topped up the coolant to make sure there was no air bubbles in the bars.

I feel like that is the best way to do it. It gives you the most control. Although I never put a shut off on my heat exchanger loop, I did buy it in case I thought I needed it.

Got out this weekend and my dads and my buddies Selkirk set up worked great. Plumbed it just like marc said and seemed hold great temps.

was in about 2ft of nice dry fluff and outside temps were in the low 20s.
My dads bike- 17.5 ktm factory edition 450 on trail temps hit 200 once in backcountry temps were consistent 175-185
my buds bike was a 20 fe 501 and he saw similar results but not as hot on the trail.

only Issue was my dads plastic turn valve on the bypass fell off. Which they seemed kinda cheap anyways. And did notice his bars didnt get super hot. Could be bubble in the system?? Will hav to check into it! other than that happy with everything!

On my 450 sxf with this set up you have to turn off or half turn off the bottom valve and it will flow more coolant to the bars... they run way warmer when you do this.
