Geez it was only 90 at 1130 last night. Avy danger is gonna be stupid high. We rode lolo last weekend and the surface hoar was over an inch tall in places.
Dropped down into the, I believe it's called the Fendal Slide area. There are numerous avey run outs one after another over there. Just have to use your head and check the snow conditions when you get there. There were no signs of slumping or cracking and the snow felt stable. I had a video to upload, but this web site has a hard time uploading GoPro videos. It was only 37mb. Here are a few pics from 2-1-2014. The snow was over 2ft deep everywhere. It was an EPIC DAY OF POWDER!
Seeley was awesome last Saturday on the East side. We were over in the Ferndel Slide area. Never came across another track and had the whole area to ourselves. 24-30" of fresh! Snow was dry and very stable. Still have to be careful though. Even with airbags we were kind of gun shy. Also went up to Pyramid pass and experienced the same snow conditions. We were also the only ones in there. :face-icon-small-hap
4 avalanches on my way out in the Jocko. 1 on the Lake and 3 across the road between the lakes and the parking area. 1 fairly large across the road 2 small across the road. All on Sat while we were riding in Seeley! Scary going thru there on the way home!
Well, just got back from Seeley. It was pretty amazing. Halfway between Marshall and Dinah lake I probed In a 4ft deep tree well and it was about seven feet still. We had to ride about 200 yds of dirt, but it was solid snow after that. Pretty amazing day.
