I am looking to ride the black hills this year, our group mostly rides in Wyoming. Do I have to get SD permits what is the cost of this? Thought I heard someone say the state you have permits for would be honored in SD or am I completely wrong? Looking forward to trying out the hills. Thanks for the information!

As long as you are registered in your home state you are good in SD. However non-resident permits from other states are not good in SD.

SD permit question

So if non resident permit is no good and Nebraska (home state) does not have any permit or registration for sled that I am aware of. I have to buy a SD permit? and what is the cost of this permit? Thanks for the help

You can buy a 5 day temporary permit for $40 if you are not licensed in your home state. Permits are available at Trailshead in the black hills or from the website posted above

Nebraska does register snowmobiles. You will need to weight the costs of registering in Nebraska vs buying a SD $40 temp.

Nebraska Sled Registration

I just registered 2 sleds in Columbus, Nebraska less than a week ago and the cost was $16 each for a total of $32. Permit is good for 2 years.
