removing airbox

I want to lighten up my old 99 rmk 600 as much as possible for next year, is removing the airbox a good idea? And if i do what is the best way to replace it, what is the accs for? Can i remove it. Any help would be good.

If you want to wake up your 99, get a cdi from a 1997 700 rmk. It will plug right in, and will make a huge difference in the performance. You will never want to go back. I put one on my 98 600 rmk and it rocks. Most stock 800's have a very time with my sled the way I have it set up. If it were me, I would yank the accs and re-jet accordingly, less to go wrong that way. I would also leave the airbox on.
