Hello!

I need a bit of advice on what to do with my team tied setup on my 2014 polaris pro rmk 800.

The clutches are running so hot I can barely touch them. The belt is actually starting to delaminate due to the heat.

I'm running 11-66 weights with a 120-340 primary spring.

73-59.36 helix and a red/black 140-240 210176 spring in the tied.
Primary engages at 3800-3900rpm and I get between 8200-8350 rpm on top.

Polaris series 6 track.
Altitude up to 1000m/3000ft and alot of tree riding..
Alignment is fine, secondary float is 3,5mm..

I haven't got a reply back from team, so I need some suggestions on where to start. Hard to tell wich clutch is the hottest..

Thanks!

That setup is what I run at 6-8000ft in my 11 pro except I run Dalton adjustable weights. For under 3000ft I use 69.3gr in primary, not sure how that converts over the 11 series weights.

You should be using a different secondary setup for that low of elevation.

The tied setup is what came recommended from team for my elevation.

Any suggestions on what to change out?

What is your belt to sheave clearance and belt deflection set right? When is the last time you cleaned your clutches? Did you wash your belt prior to use?

I ended up pitching my tied in the garbage after 3 helix's 3 springs and 7 belts.......
60-42.36 with a tss04.
Black purple sec.

You will probably pick up 5 mph trackspeed along with belt life.

He is using the stock tss04 secondary.

Many people have said the same that he has but many, such as myself, have found the opposite. I found back to back riding with Carl's cycle clutch setup in my secondary against the tied that the tied performed better.

Track speed was almost equal between the two, the tied was much more responsive and quicker back shift. I think you would find this a positive for tree riding, I do.

This is teams chart:

The setup you have is for 3-6000ft. Teams lower elevation recommendations are not that good.

I cannot give you much of a recommendation myself but think you need something different. The 11 series weights might be causing you issues also, i have only used 10 series and many say the 11's dont work as well.

I asked team about helix and spring before I ordered and what I've got is what they recommended me to use for tree riding.

I really like the tied because of how smooth it is and the response so I won't throw it in the bin just yet.

I think the spring pressures might be wrong for the 11 series weights..

You could be right, maybe try some 10-66/68's instead?

I had 10-68 in it before, but I like the 11s better. More pull down low.
Might try a different spring combo. A 310 finish rate in the primary should give me more belt pressure at peak rpm right?

Adjustable weights might be the way to go with this..

Thanks for the input.

Throw some mds weights in it, they aren't cheap, but they are a heal heavy design and adjustable. My 2014 Pro loves them. Mds will set you up with what you need at your elevation. Just my thoughts for whatever there worth. The 11 series weights are a heavier heal design and typically require the primary to be shimmed to fit right. If that hasn't been done, this could be causing your heat issue also.

Slight subject changer, but when I switch from 10 series or my BMP weights to MDS I am definetly getting a hard engagement jerk from not having the clutch shimmed correctly. I ran them on another sled and don't remember then needing clutch shimming.

Got a reply back from Venom/Team.
They belive the 11 series weight is pinching the belt alot more in the beginning of the shift so I should try a stiffer secondary spring like a 155/222 or 160/240. I've got a 155 laying around so I'll give it a try.

Pulled the tied apart and found the front cover rollers were stuck. These seem like they're made out of nylon and have swollen, making it hard to separate the sheaves..

Has anyone else experienced this??

I replaced the inner and outter rollers on mine (not seized) hoping to help the upshift and it made no difference.
The tss04 would still spank the tied.
The tied backshifts great then hangs out there.......... Feels good and responsive but long pulls build huge heat.

A year since the last post but here I go =)

In my experience a shortcut to high temp is a stiff spring. I have a couple but I always come back to running the softest I have. The Tied will backshift with a soft spring too. Use a quite shallow angle helix too.

My Tied is going on it's fourth sled this winter and has about 11 000km on it by now. Had to change the inner rollers last winter and will have to change the outer ones now, otherwise nothing.
