PRO RMK COMPRESSION

Hey!! I'd like to find out what's the compression on a 2012 PRO RMK vs a 2011 PRO RMK.
The reason I am wondering is in the morning when we start up the sleds 2012 vs 2011 is that the 2012 is super hard to pull over, probably 8 to 12 good pulls to get her going. This sled has 300 miles. A 2011 PRO RMK takes 2 to 4 pulls gets her going.Very easy to pull over. This sled has 1600 miles. The 2012 makes the 2011 look like a 600 when climbing, in the trees or on a good climb and has way more ZIP to it.
I'm trying to figure out why the 2012 is such a strong sled over the 2011.

pro

its because your 11 is worn out already needs new pistons and your twelve will do the same thing

First off 8-12 pulls is way to many. 2 pulls should light that thing up no problem in the morning. 1 pull for the rest of the day. Even 4 pulls on the older sled is too much.

Check the compression on both and see what you come up with. Dont know exactly but should be 110-115 on your compression i would think.

They are also more difficult to start when the TPS setting is off. At least ours was. Will often start on the first pull (always by the 2nd) with the TPS set to spec., was 2-4 pulls with it slightly off.

The problem is If I were to pull the rope super hard on the 2012 I would probably rip the cord out or wreck something in the recoil. Problem is I have to pull it that many times before I can really give it a good pull to start it. No I'm not a whoosy so no smart remarks are needed.
Thanks for the info on PSI of the cylinders POWERAGE .I will get both of them checked out to find out the difference on both.

I agree. 8 - 12 is just ridiculous. It should be 2 at cold, 3 if really cold. 1 for the rest of the day.

Problem is you may be a whoosy. (Sorry, had to lol) But in all seriousness, pull a little harder if you have to, you wont rip the cord out. Also, the cord has to come ALL the way out when you pull it. You can pull it as hard as you want, but if you only pull it 3/4 of the way out it seems like it just doesn't want to start.

mine is 3 pulls most of the time as its pretty cold out. 2 when not so cold, and most of the time 1 for the day, unless we stop for a longer lunch, then its back to 2.

i woul dlike to know the compression tho, i want to check mine.

My mag side cylinder was 120ish, and my PTO side was 45... Needless to say, I'm out for a while. Gotta love Polaris motors!

my 2011 pro has 126psi on both cyl. when you check it make sure both spark plugs are removed and that the throttle is wide open. pull the cord 6-10 times to get full compression checked.

just over 780 miles NA and 45 miles boosted. also I have turned up my oil and mix 100:1 in every tank of gas.

This was dealer tested. He says it's fine. I will get myself a new tester and test it myself next week. Just seems kinda low. My Banshee has 160 per side and has no problem in the giddy up and go department. This sled to me should have 145 psi. Maybe it's low so it lasts longer??? They did put me another set of injectors so I'll try it this weekend.

To the guys who put on aftermarket heads, what did your compression get bumped up to? I would do my own head mod as I know an excellent engine builder who could cut the head and redo the chamber. Would I need an air fuel gauge and a PC5 to do this mod to run right.

Motors are the same in the 2012. The day I got mine home brand new only one heat cycle on it, I checked it and it had 130 on both cyl. It ran strong!!! Now it's insane!!

Also remember that the compression will read different depending what altitude you are at. I am at 6400' elevation. Also your banchee is a smaller motor with higher cOmpression internals.
