On say the 800 rmk engine, does the headlight flicker with just the pull starting and turnover of the motor, regardless of whether the engine actually starts up?
Possible electrical stator issue?

There is no reason why they shouldn't if the pull is fast enough and there are no problems anywhere on the lighting circuit.
You are correct sir. Once I replaced the old stator with another one that I knew was good when I had previously removed it, the headlight did sputter just before the engine caught. So I had a bad stator. Furthermore, I discovered that stators will go bad, by just sitting in a garage and for no obvious reason other than to piss you off.
