If you had a failure or know someone that has ....post it up. What sled, track length, and failure with pics if you have them.

2017 axys 155 x 3”. Worn out after 2500km wouldn’t stop ratcheting no matter how tight it was.

2021 khaos 155 x 2.75 - blew a hole right in the Center of the track, under 300km on the sled.

2021 Polaris 850 qd2 axys pro 155 series 8 2.75 track. found one paddle split from the ground up 7/8 of the way. I had the skid out to put a set of raptors on and was disappointed seeing one paddle already torn in half. Did not look any further cause did not want to find more. 500 miles of use and very deep snow . Offroad except to get to the good country. Hoping it a fluke. My 2.6 track took a lot of abuse for 4 years and did not do this.

2021 Khaos 165 series 8, blown shaft at 32 miles, track looked fine
2021 Khaos 165 series 8, blown shaft at 7 miles on the trail, track was fine I believe

2021 Khaos 155 series 8, blown shaft at 77 miles (I believe), don't know many more details

the 2 165s above were both in my area, 1 being my buddy's (he still doesn't have it back yet). Both came on the same truck to the same dealer. Identical builds. late arrivals

my 165 series 8 track running on Avid center drive drivers, running very tight, has 1 small tear on a center window edge, and most of the center windows have a little deformation to them. no ratcheting, but significant track shift when on and off the gas. I am switching to extroverts

Also yesterday, 2021 165 khaos with around 500 miles. Landed on a bit of a hump of snow. the driveshaft broke on pto side taking out the lower pulley, quick drive belt and some of the mag side bulkhead.

2021 PRO RMK 850 155" Series 8 QD2 - Center Driver was crooked from day 1. Track ratcheted hard one time on first ride. Center driver started rubbing the right side track window shortly after. I run the track tight now. It will still ratchet from time to time. Center driver seems to move also from time to time. Sometimes its in the middle of the track window and sometimes it rubs.

2017 RMK Pro 155". 1st shaft on first year with a pretty aggressive 180 lb. rider, about 350 miles. Second shaft 2 weeks ago. Sled is now owned by the little sister. Light rider, not aggressive at all. Just rebuilt engine after cylinder destroyed (2100 miles) by failed reeds, the shaft failed on second ride. Not impressed.

Had hoped they were better in the 850. Does not sound like it.

2021 khaos qd2 155 2.75. 98 miles. Track was tensioned per specs prior to ride because I was already having ratcheting issues. Right hand bulkhead, lower gear, belt, and driveshaft all replaced under warranty.

My buddies wife broke her shaft on a 2021 155 x 2.75 qd2 khaos. Probably 100 miles or less.

So is the speculation that these shafts are failing due to ratcheting?

It's strange how the driveshaft problems went away for 6 or 7 years and have now resurfaced. Polaris must have found a new vendor to make the part for .13 cents cheaper. Or is it all of the ratcheting that's making it fail? What shaft is in the Matryx?

man the way that driveshaft came apart i would not trust it too far off trail. made with Chinese pot metal the way it looks.

Time to return to 2013 double clamp install?

I think the consensus was:
Install a real clamp on the qd side and move the poo clamp to the clutch side.

My guess is #1. The shaft I have seen that failed just looks like poor QC/material/manufacturing. 99% sure it had nothing to do with ratcheting on that one. 2021 QD 2.6" track machine, so same setup as a 2019 or 2020...no more prone to ratcheting.

One of the dealers here in WYO is telling riders of Kahos with 2.75- series 8 track to never go over 65 mph on trail with that track and if the speedo shows that after track issue , then no warentee! I have not looked into that and if it is in the owners manual on that. I don't know where the track speed will show in deep powder pull on a good powder day?? I still have not ridden one myself yet , so have no knowledge of vibration or track wear or failure issues .

There have been max speeds for mountain tracks listed in manuals for many years...any big lug track can/will rip of paddles at high speeds. Not under load in deep speed, but at high trail speeds, particularly for any longer period of time.
