Polaris Axys, any years to avoid?

B
Looking to get back into sledding, last time I had a 15’ car M8000. Was a pig to lay over and get on edge. Considering Doo and Poo now.

Any years I should watch out for on the Axys chassis? I know the dragon struggled with reliability as well as the pro chassis

For Polaris some will say avoid 2019 with the 850 but mine was the best sled I ever owned. Some had assembly issues but those would have failed and fixed by now. Early 800's were not as good either as there were inprovements in 2018 with cooling upgrades and better bushings in the exhaust valves and electrical upgrades.

And on these newer 800 motors, when are people doing top ends? I’m mainly looking for sub 2k miles but a few sellers have mentioned they did a new top end as preventive. Most sellers have not opened up the motor

I would still avoid the 2019 850 myself unless it has had the engine replaced.

I had a few little electrical gremlins with my 2016 but no major issues. Better relays fixed it. My dad's 2017 melted a plug on the main harness twice. I've seen 3 different 2016-2017s develop a coolant leak due to a hose rubbing through.

The 2018+ seemed to fix the electrical issues, and the newer thermostat helps keep it running cooler. My cousin's 2018 did have the thermostat fall apart once.

2019+ got the narrow front end which is a huge upgrade (which you can add to an older sled easily). If you find a 2021 with the series 8 2.75" track, make sure the drivers have been updated or it will ratchet like crazy.

The last sentence is good^^^
