oil injection 1997 600 zrt triple

Hi guys just putting a fresh motor (top & bottom done) back into the ol ***** cat here & the spring return on the cable lever at the oil pump does not appear to be strong enough to return it to the idle position. Upon removing the lever arm & turning the stud by hand seems stiff, or more effort than even a new spring would return any ideas? The adjuster & the jam nuts are correct for the alighnment marks on lever. Do not want oiling issues on fresh motor. Thanks guys I know there are a few hard core tripple guys here somewhere?

Dont know for sure but........mabey if the waterpump/oilpump shaft didnt get indexed right with the crank upon assembly --- mabey that could cause issues. I don't know enough about the internals of an oil pump to know but just a thought.
