Seems like you aren't even from Utah....

If you were you would realize that A) theres barely any snow down there B) Its an effort to keep lands available for recreation (what youre on this site for) rather than being drilled by oil companies.

But hey, **** the president for trying to give us more land to recreate in rather than giving the land to oil companies amirite?!

I'm not from Utah but I know what Nat'l monument means to many forms of recreation. I grew up in Montana and less than half of the areas we could ride a bicycle previously are open theses days and a very very large percentage of areas previously open to dirt bikes, snowmobiles and othe motorized use are now closed. Don't kid yourself that these areas are being saved for our recreational use.

AMA Objects To New National Monuments

ama-logo-ultimate-motorcycling-1The designation of two new national monuments by President Barack Obama this week could jeopardize access for responsible motorized recreation on more than 1.6 million acres of public land in Utah and Nevada.

Would you prefer the area be sold to be drilled for oil? Or is it one of those things where if you can't play, nobody else should either?

The point is, huge area closed forever to multiple forms of recreation previously allowed. It's a trend that does not stop.
Obama could have banned oil exploration and allowed the current user groups to continue to recreate as previously allowed. That is not what is happening all across the west.

Typical political warfare, dems want to lock it up so only a few can use it and republicans are working on legislation to sell it off so only a few can have it.Good ol two party system throwing the screw into the American people again.

Good thing we have a new guy in power who has ridiculed Obama for executive orders. Finally these executive orders will stop!

obama lived by the sword and his orders died the same way . if he wanted them to last he should have taken them through congress. p/s the world is starting to realize that america now has someone in office that has a pair.
