Nytro died on trail......

Went for a ride yesterday and was running down the trail when my nytro just died. Sounded like I just hit the kill switch and it coasted to a stop. Checked all the fuses (except the relay in the harness) check for any burnt or damaged wires the best I could but found nothing. No lights or codes pop up but it will only turn over and wont fire.

Pulled the belt and started towing it off the hill and the guages would come on with both the key and kill switch off. Just wondering if anyone else has had this happen or has any ideas as to what it could be.

Not sure if this is what happens for sure, but there is a problem (yamaha issued a bulletin I believe) with a wire getting rubbed through by the primary clutch. Might be a place to start.

If you turn the key to the on position and don't here the fuel pump run then you have a relay or fuse problem. The relays have been problematic in these sleds so I would start there but don't forget to check the 10 amp fuse installed in the starter relay (rear fuse, front fuse is a spare). It powers the fuel injections system

mine did the same thing last year & it was the wires that rubbed through on the clutch side in front of the motor mount, check there.mine rubbed through & bared two wires

I can hear the fuel pump when I turn the key and Have checked the fuses. I did blow one of the 10 amp fuses a few days prior. I checked it and replaced it just to be sure. I have looked at the wires but I think I need some further investigation :face-icon-small-coo

Thanks for all the help!!!

I broke my kill switch in a role on my apex and it gave me alot of problems until I got that figured out. It would die in the worst spots while riding.

Did a little more investigation tonight on my sled and found that the wiring harness had been punctured right behind the primary and cut through 4 wires. Spliced them back together taped it all up and re-routed the harness a little so it wont rub. Good as new! Thanks for all the help!

What a TERRIBLE design by Yamaha.
