Neck brace recommendations

Been unable to ride the last couple weeks because of a rear end collision Xmas eve, second one in a year. I've been looking at Leatt neck braces, 4.5,5.5,6.5 carbon to try to get back out riding. My question is, does anyone have experience with any of these, the good, the bad, what to stay away from, or can I even ride using a brace? I'm sure it's "buy the best and cry once" but is it necessary? Prices range from $250-$500. Thanks

Having owned both leat club model and another brace made in italy [ sorry cant remember the name] I found the the simple EVS neck roll to be the most comfortable and affordable for that matter.
The Leatt rested on my twice broken rt. collar bone. the evs limits neck movement in all axis.
other option would be to get your neck stronger and dont skimp on helmet choice as the lesser exspensive helmets are heavier than the top of the line helmets.
Sorry for situation. I dread getting rear ended let alone twice in a short amount of time.Good luck

I ride with a Leatt.

Are you looking for support, or are you looking for prevention? Mine does not support, but it will limit the amount of movement in some directions. It takes a bit of getting used to, but like anything else you get used to it. I'm to the point now it feels odd without it. The hardest part is getting your jacket to be comfortable because it gets pushed down under the roll in the back. One thing I really suggest and helped me was having someone who knows them well fit it to you, and look at pairing it with a complimenting chest protector. I noticed mine "dissappeared" once I had the guys at the local dirt bike shop fit it to me and add the chest protector with it to keep it from floating. One other thing is I've had to switch to a turtle neck type of shirt because the damn thing would get crusty from ice build up on the material around my neck and would chew the hell out of my neck.

Thanks for the quick replies and input. I guess it's something I'll have to get comfortable with, just like my knee brace, kidney belt, tech vest, avy bag. I'm also looking at a carbon fiber helmet (lighter) as my neck is pretty fragile right now and supporting the extra weight of my Shoei helmet doesn't help. Now that my neck has been compromised I can't imagine riding without something that prevents hyperextentsion, thanks again.:face-icon-small-hap

If you're going to buy a new helmet as well, look for ones that are flat in the back at the base as opposed to one that curves clear to your neck. I bought that style this year and it seems to have helped more to keep the helmet contacting the Leatt on the top rather than inside and trying to pull the brace back.

Leatt

Both my boys are Pro Level Downhill Mt Bike racers and they use the latest Leatt.
