Narrow or wide ski stance?

Just bought an 08 summitX 163. Thinking of using the narrow ski stance to make it pull up easier while keeping the stabilizer in place for the ride on the trail to get to the good riding. I'm assuming the narrow stance will make it more squirly on the trail?

What's your experience?

set 'em narrow and ditch the swaybar. Tighten up the springs infront a little. You bought a 163 so i can't imagine the trail being that important. :D

If I had my way I wouldn't ride 10' of trail, unfortuanately it's often a necessity to ride 10-20 miles to get to the really fun stuff. So, I'm not real fond of the mushy feel and darting you usually get with the stabalizer off. Might try the quick disconnect, but hate to pay $120 for two small pieces of metal. :)

narrrow stance and remove the sway bar....all i gotta say it ride it:D...like he said trail shouldn't be a necessity with a 163":beer;

Ditch the sway bar and stiffen up your front shocks. It will be just fine on the trail.

I have to respectfully disagree, I would buy the quick disconnect, lets face it, you didn't get into sledding because it was a cheap hobby. They work amazing, you can put it on and off before your buddies even catch up to you. where I ride we have about 30 kms of trail to ride each way and because of that I don't like to doddle. we can all agree that aside from the trail, the sway bar must go.

true story it is a lot more safe on the trail...that is if you do have to ride a distance on the trail but if your not going 80 on the trails and ride sensible, you will be just fine.

My 2 cents, I bought the quick disconects pulled em off once and never put em back. Big waste of $$$

i haven't had a sled with a sway bar EVER and though i know the sleds ride better on the trail with them i don't think they are worth keeping on. loose a few lbs, tighten up the front springs a little and never look back. i still hammer the trails at 80mph and tear up to the steep and deep faster than most. hasn't seemed to slow me down.

The XP still works pretty good on the trails without the bar....even with soft ski springs. IMO the trail ride is ALOT smoother with less bar kick in the bumps without the sway bar.....you don't see swaybars on many snocross/freestyle sleds either. We ran the skis in the wider setting last year and it was still real easy to throw around, narrow is even easier. Maybe wider setting and no bar is a happy medium. ?? :beer;
