Hi NWGC,

We have been camping out up at the Lake working long days removing hazard trees at all of our sites.

I hiked into the meadow yesterday morning to assess conditions and based on this assessment we closed the Baker NRA to snowmobiles.

I was trying to keep the area open as long as possible but melt out has exposed some bare soil on the trail, snow depths have fallen below 24” in parts of the meadow, and of course the ice bridge is gone. I put up the closed sign just before Baker Lake Rd on Hwy 20 and updated our front desk. Would be great if you could get the news out on your Facebook page. Thanks for the great season and please thank Tom for removing the culvert pipe last Sunday.

says AW does not have 24". but then says its open and not sure of conditions? i'm assuming this was a typo

I rode AW last Sunday. Less than a hundred feet of gravel to get up to the lake. Snow bridges were getting narrow and it was real thin in spots through the trees. Found 2-3in of fresh at the upper lakes. Chute had a gap in it making the climb fun. :face-icon-small-hap
I'm sure a lot has melted this week. Probably possible to get in but it's near the end.

Can't believe we had the whole place to ourselves. No other sleds there all day.

Rode AW yesterday since we were already on our way to Baker before getting the news. Couple short gravel patches on the trail in and some thin spots going through the trees. All in all not bad. First lake is getting some water around it.

Anderson Watson is done for the year, bridges were collapsing behind us on the way out. You can still ride around the hut, byt getting to the lakes is going to be melted out by next weekend. What a great ride with NWGC though.

Snow bridges are still up. We did a night right tonight. Still pretty darn fun but won't be much beyond next week. Thanks for building that hip!!

I'm not at all happy about this. There was a completely snow covered route to the upper mountain and more than the stated minimum snow depth at the meadow. Thanks for putting a name and phone number with this decision.
